These burger bowls are one of my go-tos when no one can agree on dinner. I just lay everything out and let everyone build their own, which solves a lot of dinner drama even with a picky eater at the table.

Why We Love Easy Burger Bowls
- Easy To Customize – With picky eaters in the house, customizing a meal without having to make multiple meals can be a life saver.
- Light And Refreshing – Feeling like a burger but want to keep dinner light and fresh? Bowl style meals give you all the flavor of burgers but without all the fast food grease. Honeslty it kind of feels like I’m rebranding a salad for my family, but I’m ok with that.
- Budget Friendly – The drive through has been less than appealing lately with prices rising everywhere. This gives you a budget friendly dinner that can feed the whoel family for less.

How To Make Burger Bowls
Roasting The Potatoes
- Preheat the oven to 425°F. Cut the potatoes in half and dry well with a paper towel. In a large bowl add potatoes, olive oil, salt, and pepper and toss well.
- Spread the potatoes on a baking sheet and roast until golden brown and fork tender. Potatoes will take about 25-30 minutes, and flipping halfway through will help make sure all sides are crispy.

Making The Burger Sauce
- In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, pickle relish until smooth. Set to the side or chill in the fridge until you are ready to use.

Cooking The Ground Beef
- Place a large skillet over medium heat. Add oil and let it warm, then add the ground beef. Then cook the ground beef until no longer pink, about 7-10 minutes.
- Add salt, pepper and Worcestershire sauce to the ground beef. Cook and stir for about 1 minute. Then remove from the heat and cover with a lid, setting the beef to the side.
Making The Bowls
- Start with lettuce covering the bottom of each bowl. Then layer potatoes, beef, tomatoes, pickles, red onion and cheese. Drizzle with burger sauce, then enjoy!

Bruger Bowl Variation Ideas
You can make these burger bowls simple or more loaded style, depending on what your family loves.
- Add Bacon – Try adding some crumbled bacon on top. You could cook raw bacon or use precooked bacon and just crisp it up in the pan a little.
- Try Avocado – Large chunks of avocado go well with this burger bowl.
- Mushrooms and Onions – If you love a mushroom style bowl, try adding some sauteed mushrooms and onions to the this burger bowl!
- Add In BBQ Sauce – I love bbq sauce on a burger, so a good drizzle on my ground beef is always a part of my bowl.
- Swap Beef For Ground Turkey – Easily can swap ground turkey into this recipe, though I would add a little garlic powder and onion powder as ground turkey can have less flavor then ground beef.
- Try Fries Instead Of Potatoes – You can use frozen fries, waffle fries, sweet potato fries or even tater tots in place of making the homemade potatoes if you prefer.
- Swap Onion Rings For Potatoes – Frozen onion rings or even the crispy onions meant for green bean casserole can both be great on this bowl.
- Drizzle Queso – A little warm queso or warm cheese dip drizzled on top of this recipe is pretty darn tasty.
How Long Will Burger Bowls Last?
This recipe can last up to three to four days if stored in covered containers in the refrigerator.
I prefer to store the individual items in separate containers, reheat the meat and potatoes, then assemble fresh bowls from my leftovers. I find this gives my leftovers the most amount of freshness and still works really well for meal prep.
If you assemble all the ingredients into a bowl and try to save it, it really will only be tasty for about 24 hours, as the lettuce tends to wilt.

Make the cheese melty by adding it at the very end of cooking the ground beef. Sliced american cheese or other cheese flavors can be added based on your preferences.
When it is time to serve, you can easily serve this meal family style and let everyone build their own bowl. I like to add the lettuce to my family’s bowls ahead of time, and let them add the ground beef, potatoes and other toppings and sauce to their own preferences.
